Ola Mize was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions near Surang-Ni, South Korea in June of 1953. Charged with the responsibility of defending Outpost Harry Ola Mize employed sound leadership, vigilance, and courage when a massive Chinese assault was launched against his position. He led his men against impossible odds even after discovering that many of his troops had been supplied with the wrong ammunition. Mize sustained the fight until he was able to call in air strikes and repel the attack.
