The Tsunami of late 2004 brought tragedy that most people can't even imagine. The swift and global response of the citizens of the United States saved countless lives and eased the suffering of several nations and their citizens. While most people were still celebrating the Christmas holiday with family and friends the people of Southeast Asia were struck with one of the worst tragedies in recorded history. A 100 foot wall of water was hurled toward the coast of multiple nations. When it struck their shores it left only death and destruction behind. When the water receded the need throughout those nations was overwhelming. The threat of death was not over. The men and women of the United States took immediate action to provide food, water, medical supplies, and manpower to prevent disease, starvation, and further loss of life.
