Don Stratton aboard the Arizona when ... 1:31
As two torpedoes streaked toward the Arizona in Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 Don Stratton and the crew braced themselves for impact. But nothing prepared them for when “we caught the big bomb…and that went into a million pounds of ammunition. The explosion was just horrendous.” A 110 foot section of the bow was blown off, and Stratton describes how he and those who survived the raging inferno managed to get to shore “with a lot of help from up above”. But, says Stratton, “The heroes are still on board the Arizona”.
